Wilfred Ojok, a 24-year-old shop attendant, has been killed during a robbery in Paromo Village, Gulu District. The incident occurred around 9 pm on Friday when armed individuals entered the shop.

According to police, one assailant held individuals outside at gunpoint while another entered the shop, posing as a customer. When Ojok resisted the robbery attempt, he was shot by one of the assailants and subsequently died. The perpetrators fled the scene.

Aswa West Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, confirmed that Ojok was taken to Awach HC IV but succumbed to his injuries. His body has been moved to Gulu regional referral Hospital for a postmortem examination. Police are investigating the case as murder by shooting and aggravated robbery.

This shooting comes shortly after another armed robbery at the LT Energy Petrol Station in Laliya Trading Centre. In that incident, security guard Ronald Obedi was shot and robbed of his gun. An unidentified bystander was also injured by stray bullets during the petrol station attack.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and provide any information that could help apprehend the culprits, emphasizing that joint security and intelligence efforts are underway to gather clues. Cases of aggravated robbery and attempted murder have been registered for the petrol station incident, with police recovering cartridges and blood samples from the scene.
