Moses Karangwa, a prominent figure in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Senior Presidential Advisor, has passed away due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. The crash occurred on Sunday evening along the Kayunga-Jinja highway, near Ssuka.

Karangwa was returning from Kayunga to Jinja when the driver of his official vehicle lost control. Reports indicate the driver was attempting to evade a motorcycle that had suddenly entered the roadway, leading to the vehicle overturning multiple times.

While Karangwa’s two bodyguards and the driver sustained minor injuries, Karangwa himself was critically hurt. He was initially taken to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital before being transferred to Nakasero Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, confirmed Karangwa’s death, remembering him for his “unwavering loyalty” to the NRM party. Karangwa was a significant political force in Kayunga District and had recently been appointed a Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Duties by President Museveni, lauded for his strong mobilization skills.

Karangwa, also a businessman, had recently graduated with a diploma and was pursuing a degree in Business Administration. His last public appearance was at the swearing-in ceremony of the Kayunga district council last Friday.

The body of the deceased was at Nakasero Hospital as of Monday morning.
