Security Personnel Scaled Wall of Speaker Among's Residence at 3 AM, Witness Claims

A dramatic overnight raid on the Nakasero residence of outgoing Speaker Anita Among saw security personnel scale the perimeter wall at approximately 3 am, according to a witness.

Reports indicate that the guards on duty were caught off guard by the pre-dawn operation, leading to a confrontation. The witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that the security team, described as heavily armed and numerous, overpowered the residence’s guards.

during the ensuing chaos, police officers attached to Speaker Among’s security detail were reportedly assaulted, with some sustaining injuries requiring hospitalization. The source also claimed that all escorts for the Speaker were disarmed.

Lawyers representing Ms. Among arrived at the scene, and a search operation commenced, lasting through Saturday and into Sunday morning. The witness alleged that parts of the residence were broken into, and property vandalized, with lawyers documenting the alleged damage. The search reportedly focused on a car, which was not found.

Photographs circulating on social media depicting cash recoveries were allegedly not taken from the residence, according to the source. By press time, neither the Uganda Police Force nor the UPDF had issued official statements regarding the incident.
