Harry Kane was the undeniable star of the German Cup final, netting a decisive hat-trick that powered Bayern Munich to a 3-0 win against holders VfB Stuttgart and clinched the domestic double. This marks Bayern’s first league and cup double in six years.

After a goalless first half, the England captain broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a header. He then doubled Bayern’s advantage with a superb finish 10 minutes from time, before sealing his treble with a penalty in stoppage time.

Kane’s performance was historic, making him only the third player ever to score in every round of the German Cup, including the final. His prolific form this season has seen him score an astonishing 61 goals in 51 matches across all competitions for Bayern.

Reflecting on the match, Kane spoke of the team’s patience in the second half. “We were a bit more patient with the ball, a bit more quality. We deserved to win,” he stated. Despite missing out on a treble after their Champions League semi-final exit, Kane expressed pride in the team’s achievement and looked forward to building on their success.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness lauded Kane’s transfer as the club’s best ever, a sentiment Kane found deeply special. “To have those types of words, knowing how many great players have played here, it’s special,” he remarked. “I feel like I’m part of (club’s history), scoring three goals in a final.”

The match, held at the Olympic Stadium, saw a brief interruption due to flares lit by fans. However, this did not deter Kane, who continued to dominate the proceedings, capping off a masterful individual performance and a successful season for Bayern Munich.
