Uganda Aquatics League Concludes with Exciting Finales

The 2026 Uganda Aquatics National Swimming League reached its exciting conclusion on May 17th at Kabojja International School, Buziga, highlighting a season of impressive performances from swimmers of all ages.

In the highly competitive 17 and Over boys’ category, Gators’ Ethani Ssengooba secured the top spot with a consistent accumulation of points over the league’s three legs. Ssengooba’s strong finishes, including a win in the 100m butterfly, propelled him to 271 points, ahead of Torpedoes’ Kyle Kaweesa and Dolphins’ Pendo Kaumi. For the girls in the same age group, Aquatic Academy Kampala’s Rahmah Nakasule maintained her lead from the start, clinching first place with 337 points. Nakasule demonstrated her prowess in multiple events, including the 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke.

The 15-16 years category saw Torpedoes’ Jonathan Kaweesa dominate, amassing 347 points and securing wins in five different events. In the girls’ 15-16 division, Dolphins’ Theresa Kikambi narrowly clinched the overall title with 326 points, despite Gators’ Paloma Kirabo’s strong performance across multiple races.

Young talents also shone brightly. Arthur Nsubuga of Imara Aquatics topped the 13-14 boys’ group with 323.5 points, showcasing a strategy focused on consistent point collection. Gliders’ Tyrah Muganzi led the 13-14 girls’ category with 329 points. In the 11-12 years boys’ competition, Kristian Bwisho of Imara Aquatics emerged victorious with 349 points, while 11-year-old Mushirah Nabatanzi from Aquatic Academy led the girls’ division.

Further showcasing the depth of talent, Tzion Tamale from Aqua Akii won the 10 and Under boys’ category. The league also featured an open 1500m freestyle race, where Arthur Mwase set an impressive time of 18:01.55 for the boys, and Kirabo won the girls’ race.
