Nakawa Division Mayor and Firebase Army vice president Nubian Li has publicly commended musician Eddy Kenzo for his significant support towards the family of the late singer, Master Parrot. Kenzo’s involvement during the funeral arrangements was highlighted by Nubian Li as a demonstration of solidarity with fellow artists during a difficult time.

During the funeral preparations, Kenzo reportedly worked closely with members of the Firebase fraternity, providing crucial assistance to ensure a dignified send-off for the departed artist. “Eddy Kenzo has played a huge part in sending off Parrot. He has expressed the feeling of a Firebase member and done us well,” stated Nubian Li.

Nubian Li further emphasized that Kenzo’s relationship with the Firebase crew transcends political differences. “He is still loved in Firebase because it is a culture; once a member, always a member,” he added. This sentiment comes despite Kenzo’s known support for President Yoweri Museveni, a stance that has previously caused friction with members of the Firebase group who largely align with opposition leader Bobi Wine.

However, Nubian Li stressed the importance of maintaining strong bonds forged through music and shared history, irrespective of political affiliations. He suggested that Kenzo’s contributions and past connection to the group solidify his place within the broader Firebase family.

The message of unity was reportedly well-received by Kenzo and other musicians, acknowledging the significance of solidarity within Uganda’s music community. Master Parrot, a foundational member of the original Firebase Crew, passed away due to a road accident, leaving behind a notable legacy in Ugandan dancehall and reggae music.
