The final resting place of the late Kadongokamu star Paul Job Kafeero in Nkokonjeru Town Council, Buikwe District, is being rebuilt. The reconstruction follows the recent exhumation of the musician’s remains, a step approved by the court to gather DNA samples.

This exhumation is a crucial part of a wider legal process involving multiple individuals claiming to be Kafeero’s children. Their paternity claims are being investigated to determine rightful inheritance to the musician’s estate.

Initial reports on Wednesday morning suggested the reconstruction project had stalled, with the burial site appearing unfinished. However, local resident Frederick Kalaala confirmed that work resumed promptly after public concern was raised.

Rhino Funeral Services has been contracted for the grave’s reconstruction. While the company was unavailable for comment, family members have assured that the project is adequately funded and progressing.

Abubaker Nende, brother to the deceased musician, stated that the entire cost of the reconstruction is being covered by outgoing State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara. Minister Barugahara confirmed his personal funding of the project, which commenced on the same day as the exhumation, and indicated that significant progress has already been made.

Concurrently, the legal dispute over Kafeero’s estate is escalating. Approximately 20 individuals who claim to be his offspring were slated for DNA testing on Thursday. These tests are to be conducted at both the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya and the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory in Naguru.

The anticipated DNA results are expected to be pivotal in identifying the legitimate heirs to Paul Kafeero’s estate, aiming to resolve lingering uncertainties for his family since his passing in May 2007. The findings will be crucial for beneficiaries’ claims and settling the estate distribution.
