Miika Eco Resort Hotel, situated along the scenic Hoima Butiaba Road, stands as a leading hospitality destination in Uganda’s Bunyoro region. Established in 2016 by Dr. Fred Kabagambe-Kaliisa, the resort was conceived to address a notable gap in Hoima’s hospitality offerings, aiming to provide world-class accommodation and leisure facilities.
Today, Miika Eco Resort boasts a modern, eco-friendly infrastructure featuring comfortable lodging, conference amenities, a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, and children’s play area. With an actual investment of USD 1.59 million, the resort employs 175 individuals, contributing significantly to local employment and the tourism sector.
Dr. Kaliisa, a native of Bunyoro, was inspired to invest by the region’s lack of quality visitor facilities. The resort was developed in phases over six years, prioritizing a sustainable growth strategy to ensure a lasting impact and financial stability.
Miika Eco Resort has become a popular choice for tourists, business travelers, and families, earning national recognition including the Eco Hospitality Award and the Employee of the Year Award. The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) has been instrumental in supporting the resort, with government incentives like VAT exemptions further aiding its development.
Future plans include expanding facilities with a modern gym, wellness center, renovated rooms, upgraded kitchens, and enhanced conference spaces. The resort is also developing Miika Botanical Inn in Entebbe to strengthen its hospitality network and is planning a new resort and golf course near Hoima Airport. The investment’s value has grown substantially with these new additions.
Dr. Kaliisa encourages prospective investors, highlighting Uganda’s safety, opportunities, and the supportive role of the UIA in fostering business growth.
