In a unique move to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday, the Trump administration has released a special edition U.S. passport. This commemorative passport prominently features a photograph of President Donald Trump.
President Trump unveiled the new design via social media, sharing an image of the passport pages. One page displays a picture of the President seated at the Resolute Desk, with the Declaration of Independence in the background and his signature below. The State Department confirmed that these passports will be available starting July 6th, while supplies last.
This initiative is part of a broader pattern by the president to associate his name and likeness with significant American institutions and documents. Previously, a commemorative gold coin featuring Trump was announced, and plans were made for his signature to appear on U.S. banknotes, a first for a sitting president.
Access to the “patriot passport,” as the White House has dubbed it, is highly restricted. American citizens must schedule an in-person appointment at the passport agency in Washington D.C. or attend one of a few designated special acceptance events to obtain this limited edition. Traditional passports typically showcase historical American scenes and symbols, such as the Moon landing or the Statue of Liberty.
This marks the first time a living U.S. president has been depicted on a passport. The commemorative design, initially announced in April, has undergone slight modifications, now including the number “250” alongside Trump’s image and signature.
