FUFA President Moses Magogo has underscored the significance of motivation in driving the aspirations of Uganda’s U-17 national football team, affectionately known as the ‘Teen Cranes.’ Magogo believes that beyond technical skills and physical conditioning, the mental fortitude of these young players is paramount to their success on the pitch.
Drawing from his involvement with the Kampala Queens, a successful women’s football club, Magogo highlighted how nurturing a positive and encouraging environment directly impacts performance. He suggested that consistent psychological support, coupled with a clear vision and belief in their potential, can significantly elevate the team’s game.
“We need to ensure that these young players are not only well-trained but also mentally prepared and highly motivated. This involves understanding their dreams and providing them with the confidence and encouragement to pursue them relentlessly,” Magogo stated. He added that fostering a sense of belonging and pride in representing their nation is a key element in this motivational strategy.
The FUFA boss further elaborated that the journey for any young athlete is often fraught with challenges, making robust motivation a crucial factor in overcoming setbacks and maintaining focus. He indicated that the federation is committed to implementing programs that cater to the holistic development of these budding stars, ensuring they have the support system needed to excel.
Magogo’s remarks aim to galvanize support and resources for the U-17 team, signaling FUFA’s dedication to nurturing future football talent in Uganda. The focus on motivation is a strategic approach to build not just skilled players, but resilient and determined individuals ready to compete at higher levels.
This perspective emphasizes the mental aspect of sports development, asserting that a motivated young player is more likely to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to Ugandan football. The insights were shared in a publication by the Daily Monitor.
