The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the Pursuit Swim League’s eighth circuit, hosted this week at the British School of Kampala (BSK) Muyenga. The competition, focused exclusively on relays, will see Astros and Flames battling fiercely for the coveted top spot.

Astros currently holds a slim one-point advantage, leading the overall standings with nine points. While they did not secure any relay victories in the previous leg, their consistent performance, including second-place finishes in the 5x25m butterfly and medley relays, and third in backstroke and freestyle, despite a disqualification in the breaststroke, kept them at the helm. Four of the five teams experienced disqualifications, minimizing the impact on the standings.

Flames, right on their heels with eight points, are poised to challenge for the championship. They topped the previous night’s events, clinching victories in the 5x25m butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley relays. Their only slip-up was finishing last in the backstroke relay, but importantly, they avoided any disqualifications.

Colts are positioned third overall with six points and still hold an outside chance at the title, provided both Astros and Flames falter significantly in the final circuit. Jets are in fourth place, with Talons trailing in fifth, largely hampered by disqualifications that have taken them out of contention for the top two positions.

The final day of racing promises high stakes as the two leading teams vie for ultimate glory.
