Hoima District has taken a significant step to bolster security at Mparangasi Health Centre III by commissioning a new Shs98 million chain-link fence. The investment is intended to provide a safer environment for both patients and the dedicated health workers serving the community.
During the commissioning ceremony, Resident District Commissioner Rogers Mbabazi reiterated the government’s dedication to improving healthcare services across Hoima. He pointed to several recent investments in health infrastructure, including upgrades at Kigorobya Health Centre IV and Buseruka Health Centre III, as evidence of this commitment.
Mbabazi, however, also voiced concerns regarding the slow pace of securing land titles for government institutions. He emphasized that without formal ownership documentation, public facilities are vulnerable to land grabbing and ownership disputes, which can disrupt essential services.
Fridah Kabagahya, representing the District Chairperson, praised the initiative to protect health facilities and ensure the well-being of healthcare providers and patients. She affirmed the district’s ongoing commitment to enhancing service delivery and broadening access to timely medical care for all residents.
Chief Administrative Officer Sarah Nakalungi urged the public to refrain from vandalizing government properties. She explained that such destructive actions not only hinder service delivery but also represent a considerable waste of public funds. Nakalungi also mentioned that Hoima District is set to benefit from national health programs like UgIFT, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and services at local health centers.
