The Rotary Club of Nakawa has ushered in a new era of leadership with the installation of Engineer Isaac Mukiibi as its president. Mukiibi pledged to build on the successes of his predecessors, focusing on expanding community service initiatives, growing the club’s membership base by 15 percent, and strengthening ties with other Rotary clubs.
During the handover ceremony, outgoing president Charles Siminyu reported a nearly 90 percent achievement rate for his administration’s goals, attributing this success to increased membership, effective leadership training, and consistent engagement in community projects. These projects included contributions to the Cancer Run, donations of school supplies, and various outreach programs aimed at improving local livelihoods.
Charter president Suzan Kamazima reflected on the club’s significant growth and impact since its inception. She highlighted past initiatives such as free medical camps providing treatment to thousands, the distribution of essential items like mosquito nets and sanitary pads, and crucial awareness campaigns on immunisation and HIV/AIDS. Kamazima also announced that road safety education and the provision of reflective gear for motorcyclists will be a flagship project for the new Rotary year, aiming to reduce traffic accidents.
Looking ahead, President Mukiibi identified the completion of a maternity ward at Mashalushasha Health Centre II in Rukungiri District as a top priority. The club will also continue its focus on addressing fundamental community needs such as sanitation, access to clean water, and environmental protection.
Engineer Mukiibi, a founding member with a strong background in Civil Engineering, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and urged continued dedication to service and integrity, echoing sentiments from chief guest Fabian Kasi, former Managing Director of Centenary Bank. The club is poised for a year of continued impactful service under its new leadership.
