The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a critical final reminder for all eligible candidates to complete their registration for the 2026 national examinations before the normal registration deadline of midnight tonight, June 30, 2026.
This deadline applies to all examination levels: Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms. Jennifer Kalule Musamba, stressed that registration is only considered final once the associated invoice has been fully paid by the school.
“This is therefore to remind all concerned parties to ensure that the learners in candidate classes are all duly registered, so that no learner is left out,” Ms Kalule urged.
For those who miss the initial deadline, a month-long late registration period will be available from July 1 to July 31. However, this grace period comes with substantial financial penalties. Candidates registering late will face a 100% surcharge for PLE and a 50% surcharge for both UCE and UACE.
UNEB has been clear that no further registrations will be accepted after July 31. This year has seen a notable increase in candidate numbers, with 1,584,519 registered so far across all levels, a rise from 1,372,015 in 2025. PLE candidates form the largest group with 910,774 registrations, followed by UCE with 479,681, and UACE with 194,064.
Ms. Kalule also provided specific instructions regarding examination center transfers. Such requests must be processed directly by the UNEB registration office, requiring official permission from the UNEB Executive Director and supporting letters from both the current and intended schools. Further assistance can be obtained by contacting UNEB’s registration office at 041-777-3100 or their helpline numbers.
