NBS Television is set to mark its 18th anniversary with a week-long series of events commencing on Friday, July 3rd, and running until July 10th, 2026. The celebrations are designed to bring together both current and former staff, recognizing their contributions to the broadcaster’s journey.
In an internal memo, Chief Executive Officer of Next Media Group, Kin Kariisa, announced the plans, reflecting on the station’s beginnings on June 16, 2008. He highlighted NBS TV’s evolution into a trusted name in Ugandan media, attributing its success to the collective efforts of its people.
Kariisa emphasized that the launch of NBS Television served as the catalyst for the creation and subsequent expansion of Next Media. This foundational step enabled the company to diversify beyond television into radio, digital media, publishing, and events, establishing itself as a major multimedia entity.
Headquartered at Next Media Park in Naguru, Kampala, the group now operates multiple television channels, including NBS TV, NBS Sport, Sanyuka TV, Sanyuka Prime, and Salam TV. Its radio presence is represented by Next Radio, while its digital footprint includes the Afro Mobile streaming platform and the Nile Post online news portal.
The anniversary week aims to foster a spirit of camaraderie and reflection, inviting all “Transformers,” as staff are known, to participate. Kariisa encouraged active engagement from employees, urging them to share the celebratory spirit within their communities and on social media platforms, acknowledging the role of the Ugandan audience in the station’s growth.
Details of the full anniversary program are expected to be shared as preparations advance. This celebration underscores NBS Television’s nearly two-decade influence in broadcasting and Next Media’s transformation into a comprehensive digital-first media ecosystem.
