Mufti Mubaje Mourns Ex-Kumi Kadhi Sheikh Emuge in Tragic Accident

The entire Muslim community in Uganda is in grief following the sudden death of Sheikh Harunah Emuge, the former Kadhi of Kumi Muslim District. Sheikh Emuge lost his life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after being involved in a fatal road accident along the Mbale–Soroti Highway in Mbale City.
In a heartfelt condolence message, the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, on behalf of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), paid tribute to the late Sheikh Emuge. The Mufti described his passing as a significant and tragic loss for the entire Muslim fraternity.
Sheikh Mubaje lauded Sheikh Emuge as a devoted servant of Islam and a zealous advocate for Da’wah (Islamic propagation) across the Eastern and North Eastern regions of Uganda. He highlighted Sheikh Emuge’s deep piety, humility, and loyalty in his service to the faith.
“Sheikh Harunah Emuge was a very pious, humble and loyal leader who was passionate about seeing the Islamic faith flourish. He personally donated a piece of land on which a community mosque and a school were established,” Mufti Mubaje stated, underscoring the leader’s tangible contributions.
At the time of his demise, Sheikh Emuge held a respected position as a member of the UMSC Shuurah (Advisory) Council for retired leaders and elders, where he continued to offer valuable guidance. The Mufti offered prayers for the repose of Sheikh Emuge’s soul, asking Allah to grant him paradise and for strength and patience for his grieving family.
Sheikh Emuge will be remembered for his dedication to Islamic education, community development, and his unwavering commitment to religious leadership, leaving behind a legacy of service and devotion.
