The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has apprehended Chris Obore, the Director of Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament, and Patrick Kunobwa, the Head of Finance, as part of a widening probe into alleged financial irregularities. The arrests, which also include Daniel Adilo (Director HR) and Methods Murebe (CEO of the parliamentary Sacco), stem from investigations into accusations of abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds.
These investigations have intensified following the departure of former Speaker Anita Among in May 2026. Over recent weeks, numerous parliamentary staff have been summoned by the Inspectorate of Government to provide explanations regarding the alleged withdrawal of funds through personal accounts and their subsequent utilization.
While former Speaker Anita Among has not been arrested, security agencies have reportedly conducted searches at her residences and former office as part of the inquiry. The IGG has yet to release specific details regarding any charges that may be brought against the arrested officials, and the investigations are continuing.
More information is expected as the probe progresses.
