In a significant move against corruption, the Inspector General of Government (IGG) has arrested seven senior officials within the Ugandan Parliament. This operation targets alleged corrupt practices and is seen as a major step in holding legislative officials accountable.
The arrested officials hold key positions, including the Director of Communications, Chris Obore, and the Director of Human Resources, Adilo Daniel. Other officials apprehended are Okema Leonard, Executive Secretary to the Speaker’s office; Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, a Principal Research Officer; Okwi Emmanuel Emuron, Principal Protocol Officer; and Otebata Vincent, a Capacity Development Officer. Also arrested was Murebe Methods, CEO of the Uganda Parliamentary Cooperative Savings and Credit Society Ltd.
