Charles Byooma Ahimbisibwe, the Speaker of Kikyenkye Sub-county, has urged residents to re-evaluate their community associations, moving from solely supporting funeral expenses to forming groups focused on productive savings and investment. This call was made during the 12th anniversary of the Kajumbura United Group, highlighting the success of cooperative financial efforts.

Ahimbisibwe stressed that communities should prioritize associations that encourage saving and wealth creation, viewing these as the bedrock of sustainable development. He challenged existing groups to expand their activities beyond mere savings and invest in income-generating ventures that can boost household incomes and create local employment.

The Kajumbura United Group was celebrated for its 12-year journey, evolving from a small initiative into a successful community savings collective. Chairperson Christopher Kakuru shared that the group has accumulated over Shs101 million through consistent saving and mutual financial support, demonstrating the power of unity and financial discipline.

Members of Kajumbura United Group attribute significant improvements in their living standards to the association, citing access to affordable loans for education, housing, and business development. Local leaders, including Vally Kahigiriza and Gastone Mubangizi, praised the group as a model for financial discipline and community-driven development, encouraging other areas to replicate their success.

The event underscored the vital role of community savings and investment in poverty reduction, financial inclusion, and fostering sustainable development within Ibanda District. Leaders emphasized that these internally driven initiatives are crucial for long-term community welfare.
