Joseph Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the State Minister for Kampala and MP for Nakaseke Central, has implored National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Nakaseke District to overcome their differences and focus on achieving victory in the soon-to-be-held LC1 village chairperson elections.

Speaking at the dedication of Our Lady of Consolata Kapeeka Parish Church, Kyofatogabye stressed that strong village leadership forms the bedrock of good governance and efficient service delivery. He acknowledged that while disagreements among leaders might exist, prioritizing unity is crucial for the NRM’s success in these grassroots elections.

The church dedication ceremony, presided over by Bishop Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, also saw leaders acknowledging the government’s support for the Catholic Church and its community development initiatives. Bishop Mukasa expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting its positive impact on the welfare of Christians and commending the development in Kapeeka, partly attributed to support from Gen. Salim Saleh.

Rev. Fr. Hilary Muheezangango reflected on the peace and development witnessed in Kapeeka, an area previously affected by war, urging citizens to protect this stability. Minister Kyofatogabye, representing Gen. Salim Saleh, further encouraged residents to engage with government wealth creation programs like the Parish Development Model to alleviate poverty.

Nakaseke South MP Charles Nsereko echoed the sentiment of unity, advising leaders to serve all constituents impartially, irrespective of political or religious affiliations, as inclusive leadership is vital for national development and unity.

The church event’s theme was “How Lovely Are Your Dwelling Places, O Lord Almighty” (Psalm 84:1).
