Two Injured in Rubanda District Road Accident

A traffic accident on the Kabale-Kisoro highway in Rubanda District has resulted in two people sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred this morning in the Karengyere area of Muko Sub-county.

According to Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, the crash involved a Nissan pickup truck (UBK 746P) and a HOWO truck (KDK 325W / ZD 9216). The vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the pickup reportedly lost control and collided with the truck.

Emergency services, including Rubanda Traffic Police, were dispatched to the scene. The two unidentified occupants of the pickup truck, who suffered severe injuries, were transported to Kisoro Hospital for immediate medical attention. They are currently receiving treatment.

In response to the accident, Police spokesperson Tumushime emphasized the importance of adherence to traffic laws. He urged all road users to respect speed limits and road signs. Drivers undertaking long journeys were specifically cautioned against fatigue, with advice to ensure sufficient rest before and during their travels to prevent similar incidents.

An investigation into the precise cause of the collision is currently underway, with authorities working to gather more details.
