Tragedy at Naalya SS: Student Found Dead in School Toilet

Naalya Secondary School, Bweyogerere Campus, has been the scene of a profound tragedy after an 18-year-old male student was found dead. The student was discovered hanging in a toilet within the boys’ section of the school premises on the evening of Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the unfortunate incident. He stated that initial observations show the deceased was last seen entering the toilet block not long before his body was found. This detail is a key focus of the ongoing police investigation.

Investigators have recovered a handwritten note from the scene, which is believed to have been authored by the student. The note has been secured as crucial evidence and is currently undergoing analysis to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the death. A team of detectives and crime scene experts were dispatched to the school to gather further information, record witness testimonies, and subsequently transported the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
