The Ugandan entertainment scene is in mourning following the passing of Maggie Kiweesi, the widow of the late acclaimed musician AK47. Mrs. Kiweesi died on Monday, July 20, 2026, leaving behind young children who have now lost both parents, having been orphaned by their father years prior.

News of her death was shared by Justine Nameere Nsubuga, Woman Member of Parliament for Masaka City and Minister of State for Local Government, via her social media channels. The announcement was a formal notification to government officials and the broader public.

Vigil prayers commenced and are expected to continue for three days at the home of her parents in Katabi, Entebbe. This multi-day vigil is in anticipation of relatives traveling from the United States of America to join the family for the final farewell.

The burial ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The final rites will be held at Kibbugga Village in Butambala District, with prayers beginning at 12:00 PM.
