Presidential Assistant's Agriculture Venture Exemplifies Museveni's Wealth Creation Call

Mr. Yiga Kissakyamukama, a Special Presidential Assistant on Service Delivery and Monitoring, is actively demonstrating President Yoweri Museveni’s emphasis on leaders leading by example in wealth creation. Mr. Kissakyamukama has cultivated a successful commercial agriculture business, NRM7, on his personal journey from poverty to entrepreneurship.

During a recent visit to his farms in Gomba, Mr. Kissakyamukama showcased various enterprises, including a 125-acre farm with livestock, a eucalyptus plantation, and banana and plantain crops. This venture, leased from the government, employs several local workers, contributing to job creation and household incomes.

Inspired by President Museveni’s Parish Development Model tours, his goat farming initiative has grown from 30 to 150 goats, with projections of significant financial returns. He also highlighted the profitability of his eucalyptus plantation, which is expected to yield substantial income when harvested for electricity poles.

Mr. Kissakyamukama’s financial success extends to a coffee and banana plantation and a dairy farm with 80 cows, generating daily milk sales. His journey began as a street child, and with support from President Museveni for education and business, he transformed his life through disciplined savings and wise investment in agricultural produce.

Beyond agriculture, Mr. Kissakyamukama has diversified into producing sand blocks and concrete pavers, using the profits to further invest in land and a commercial building. He is also developing a hotel in Gomba, demonstrating a commitment to reinvestment and expansion.

He actively mentors young people in Gomba, encouraging them to embrace commercial agriculture and other productive ventures. Mr. Kissakyamukama advocates for investing rather than consuming, urging youth to remain focused, transparent, and humble. He emphasizes that honest work, not proximity to power, is the key to genuine wealth.

Mr. Kissakyamukama is also distributing goats to youth groups and planning large-scale coffee and banana cultivation projects, aiming to secure presidential support for seedlings and tractors. He believes that well-managed coffee farms can provide significant annual income, offering a sustainable path out of poverty.

Beneficiaries have shared how Mr. Kissakyamukama’s mentorship and support have positively impacted their lives, enabling them to establish their own agricultural projects and improve their livelihoods. He also advocates for accountability from past beneficiaries of educational support programs, urging them to demonstrate productive use of opportunities.
