Uganda's Education Sector Faces Critical Funding Gaps, Experts Warn

Despite government commitments to prioritize education, recent analyses suggest a worrying trend of underfunding that impacts the sector’s ability to deliver quality learning outcomes. While the Ministry of Public Service has allocated substantial funds towards the public service wage bill, a significant portion of this may not directly translate to enhanced educational services.

Concerns have been voiced regarding the adequacy of resources for essential educational needs, including teacher training, infrastructure development, and the provision of learning materials. The current allocation, observers argue, falls short of addressing the growing demands of a burgeoning student population and the imperative to equip learners with skills relevant to the 21st century.

This persistent funding gap poses a direct threat to the quality of education being imparted.
