Kenya Airways flight KQ784, arriving from Nairobi, encountered a tyre burst on the runway at Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM local time after the aircraft had already completed its landing.

Following established safety protocols, the flight crew ensured that all passengers and crew disembarked safely. The airline confirmed that the return flight, KQ785 to Nairobi, has been cancelled to allow for technical inspections and repairs to the aircraft.

Kenya Airways issued a statement apologizing for any inconvenience caused, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety remains their utmost priority. They are actively assisting affected passengers with alternative travel arrangements.

The tyre burst led to temporary disruptions at Cape Town International Airport. Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) reported that arriving flights were diverted to other airports, while domestic departures continued. International departures utilizing wide-body aircraft were temporarily suspended until the runway was cleared for normal operations.

ACSA advised travellers to check for the latest flight updates before heading to the airport. Further information regarding the restoration of normal operations will be provided as it becomes available. The cause of the tyre failure has not yet been disclosed, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
