Singer Omulangira Suuna has publicly expressed his disappointment with fellow artist King Michael, alleging a lack of appreciation for his past contributions to King Michael’s career. Suuna claims he was a pivotal figure in helping King Michael establish himself in the Ugandan music scene, particularly in the early days around 2005-2006.
According to Suuna, he was primarily working as a producer and songwriter at the time and had already assisted other successful artists. He stated that King Michael approached him for help, seeking a similar breakthrough as achieved by artists like Radio and Weasel, whose hit song ‘Nakudata’ Suuna had worked on. Suuna asserts he lent his expertise to King Michael, playing a role in the success of tracks like ‘Muko Muko’.
Despite attending King Michael’s recent concert to show support, Suuna was dismayed not to be acknowledged or invited to the stage. He lamented this lack of recognition, attributing it to a broader cultural tendency in Uganda to overlook those who have contributed significantly. “He never talks about me because that is how Ugandans are,” Suuna commented, adding that such a lack of appreciation hinders national progress.
