President Donald Trump has publicly denied allegations of a dwindling munitions supply within the United States military. Addressing the issue via social media, Trump stated that the U.S. possesses “massive amounts of ‘munitions,’” with significant quantities currently being manufactured and delivered.

These assertions come amidst mounting questions from the Pentagon and the public regarding the state of the nation’s arsenal, particularly as a protracted conflict enters its sixth month without a resolution.

Reports from outlets like CBS News and the Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, had suggested a significant depletion of long-range precision missiles and raised concerns about potential weapon shortfalls. Trump has strongly refuted these reports, even suggesting that “fake ‘reporting’ is treasonous.”

Adding to the tension, Iran’s Defence Minister, Majid Ibn-e-Reza, remarked on the perceived “diminishing capabilities” of adversaries, emphasizing Iran’s self-sufficiency in locally produced weaponry. He asserted that Iran’s indigenous defense industry equips its armed forces to counter any threat and that imported systems are inferior to their domestic technology.

Trump’s administration has consistently maintained that U.S. missile stockpiles are robust. Earlier, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth dismissed reports of a shortage as a “manufactured story.” However, the administration has also acknowledged efforts to ramp up production and has sought emergency funding for rapid replenishment of equipment and munitions.

Precise details on U.S. missile stocks remain classified. Nonetheless, analyses from think tanks like the Center for Strategic and International Studies estimate a substantial reduction in certain missile types following extensive use during recent military operations. The demand for U.S. weaponry extends beyond the current conflict, with significant supplies having been provided to Ukraine since 2022, potentially impacting future availability.

Trump concluded his remarks by vowing to hunt down and seek “long term jail sentences” for those responsible for leaking what he termed “treasonous statements.”
