The highly anticipated race kit for the 2026 Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon was officially unveiled at Uganda Breweries Limited headquarters in Kampala. The event transformed a typical press briefing into a vibrant fashion showcase, featuring both professional models and athletes displaying the new gear.
This year’s kit retains the signature green theme but introduces a special emblem commemorating the marathon’s fifth anniversary on the front. Design elements draw inspiration from the rugged Rwenzori terrain, incorporating topographic contour patterns. A rising sun motif symbolizes new beginnings and the runners’ spirit, while the Ugandan flag prominently celebrates the event’s national identity. The iconic elephant tusk design pays homage to the Tusker Lite brand’s partnership in promoting active lifestyles.
The jersey is accompanied by a matching cap, bag, and water bottle. Sponsors for this edition, including KIA, the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Rwenzori Natural Mineral Water, Britam Insurance, UCC, and Explore Uganda, are featured on the back of the jersey.
Elizabeth Mutamuliza, Marketing Manager for Beer at UBL, highlighted the marathon’s growth and Tusker Lite’s commitment to active living. She noted that the event has evolved from a race into a significant regional destination experience. Sandra Againe, Tusker Lite Brand Manager, emphasized the marathon’s positive economic and tourism impact on the Kasese region, attracting visitors and benefiting local businesses.
Organizers are expecting around 8,000 participants, including runners from over 20 countries. In addition to the kit, finishers will receive a commemorative medal. Details on kit collection will be announced soon. Music artist Fik Fameica is slated to perform at the pre-race Neon Rave, adding to the event’s entertainment value.
