Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, has issued several decrees appointing new leaders to critical military roles. These changes come in the wake of the “martyrdom” of previous officeholders.

Major General Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed the new commander-in-chief of the IRGC, with a promotion to major general. This appointment follows the “honorable and proud martyrdom” of his predecessor at the hands of the “Zionist-American enemy.” Vahidi, who holds degrees in electronic engineering and strategic studies and has prior experience as Iran’s interior minister, is tasked with leading the IRGC during a period of “strategic and decisive confrontation with global arrogance.” His mandate includes enhancing military capabilities for deterrence and offensive operations, alongside strengthening cultural development within the corps.

Major General Ali Abdollahi has been named Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, replacing Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, who also died in an attack attributed to “Zionist-American” forces. Abdollahi’s priorities include bolstering defense and security capabilities, preparing for various threats, and completing integration processes within the military structure.

Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari has been appointed Deputy Chief of Staff, focusing on enhancing capabilities, spiritual strength, and personnel welfare. Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei is the new commander of the IRGC Navy, tasked with improving training, equipment, and operational readiness, particularly in intelligence and combat preparedness.

Furthermore, Hojjatoleslam Hossein Taeb takes over as head of the Basij Organization, succeeding General Gholamreza Soleimani, who was also reportedly martyred. Taeb is expected to deepen the culture of Basij and resistance, expand the popular intelligence network, and utilize modern technologies against enemy threats.

These appointments signal a strategic realignment of Iran’s military leadership, emphasizing readiness, deterrence, and ideological reinforcement within the armed forces. The decrees consistently mention the “martyrdom” of previous leaders and attribute their deaths to “Zionist-American” enemies, framing the new appointments within a context of ongoing conflict and resistance.
