The High Court in Kampala has convicted two key suspects, Lujja Bbosa Tabula and Noah Lugya, in the assassination of Engineer Daniel Bbosa, the former leader of the Ndiga Clan. The convictions came after both Tabula and Lugya entered guilty pleas to the murder charges.
Justice David Matovu formally convicted the duo after the prosecution presented the facts of the case. Tabula, who is accused of orchestrating the assassination that occurred in February 2024, admitted to the charges and sought the court’s forgiveness. Lugya also confessed to his role in the killing.
While Tabula and Lugya have pleaded guilty, three other co-accused individuals—Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabake, and Ezra Mayanja—maintain their innocence and will proceed to trial. The court is awaiting sentencing for the convicted pair.
Engineer Bbosa was fatally shot on February 25, 2024, as he was returning home from a clan function. His vehicle was targeted by assailants on a motorcycle. In the aftermath, local residents pursued the attackers, leading to the death of one suspect, Enock Sserunkuma, by a mob. Lugya was apprehended by security forces.
Prosecutors stated that Lugya confessed to participating in the murder on Tabula’s instructions and identified Sserunkuma as the shooter. Evidence presented by the state includes CCTV footage, communication records, and forensic reports, suggesting the murder stemmed from a leadership dispute within the Ndiga Clan. Tabula reportedly believed the leadership was his birthright and allegedly provided the murder weapon.
