The leadership of Bamutakudde Village in Mukono district is embarking on a significant five-year development journey, spearheaded by LC1 Chairperson Solomon Sserwanjja. A strategic planning retreat recently brought together village leaders and residents, alongside invited experts, to translate local aspirations into actionable development priorities.

At the forefront of the plan is the urgent need for clean water, a pressing issue for the community. Sserwanjja announced plans to sink at least three wells within the first quarter of the plan’s implementation. Two of these wells will receive support from the Mukono District Local Government, while the village will focus on mobilizing resources for the third.

Enhancing household incomes, particularly for the youth, is another key pillar. The strategy includes equipping young people with practical skills such as plumbing, painting, electrical wiring, tiling, landscaping, and gardening. The district government has also pledged 50 beehives to foster beekeeping as an income-generating venture. Furthermore, the village intends to establish two community-based companies: a professional catering service and an events management firm, aiming to create employment and offer valuable services.

The administration also plans to actively leverage existing government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Youth Livelihood Programme. Resource mobilization will be a continuous effort, seeking support from NGOs, development partners, and corporate social responsibility initiatives, alongside encouraging modest contributions from residents.

This detailed roadmap aims to clarify Bamutakudde Village’s development goals, facilitating collaboration with residents, government bodies, and potential partners to drive progress. This plan was reported by Nile Post.
