Musician Bosmic Joyce Otim has approached the Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court with a proposal to settle his assault case outside of the courtroom.

Otim, who is accused of causing grievous bodily harm, is currently out on Shs 2 million cash bail. The request for an out-of-court settlement was made by his lawyer during a court session on Thursday, August 13.

State Attorney Yusuf Ssali informed the court that both Otim and the complainant have indicated a desire to resolve the matter amicably. “Both parties have the intention to settle it out of court. They have requested the court to give them time to have a meeting at their home and see how the matter can be resolved,” Ssali stated.

Otim’s legal representative, Robert Okot, endorsed the request, asking the court for adequate time for reconciliation while keeping the current bail conditions in effect. The complainant, fellow musician and blogger Alfred Joe Okello, also known as KD Kristo Hammer, has agreed to the mediation.

Kitgum Chief Magistrate Robert Ekirita has adjourned the case to September 15, 2026, for an update on the mediation efforts and has extended Otim’s bail.

The charges stem from an alleged assault on May 3, 2026, at Corner Mission in Pager Division, Kitgum Municipality, where Otim is accused of inflicting serious injuries on Okello.

This potential mediation could lead to a resolution of the dispute without the need for a full trial, pending court approval and legal procedures.
