Israel Kitooke Kazibwe, the Minister of Information and Kingdom Spokesperson for Buganda, recently visited Mengo Secondary School, specifically touring the Royal Boys and Imperial Girls dormitories. His visit coincided with the swearing-in ceremony for the school’s new student leaders.

During the ceremony, Kazibwe delivered a pivotal message to the elected students, urging them to view their leadership positions not as a pastime, but as a serious commitment. He stressed that the responsibilities they are undertaking now will serve as a vital foundation for their future lives and potential leadership capacities.

“Do not take the responsibility entrusted to you as a game. This is an important foundation for your future, so take your responsibilities seriously and care about the people you lead,” Kazibwe advised.

He further encouraged the student leaders to cultivate a spirit of service, emphasizing that effective leadership stems from a genuine concern for the well-being of those they represent. The dormitory facilities themselves were established through the initiative of Prince Tonny Wasajja.

The event also saw the presence of Reverend Canon Dunstan Kiwanuka Mazinga, Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe, accompanied by his wife. Reverend Canon Mazinga echoed the importance of empathy and service, imploring the student leaders to be attentive to the challenges faced by their peers. He also underscored the value of respecting seniors and adhering to godly principles in their conduct.

“Pay attention to your fellow students, understand what they are going through, respect those who are senior to you, and let your lives be guided by godly values,” he stated.
