Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has announced a renewed partnership with the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, marking five years of collaboration. This renewed commitment solidifies CCBU’s role as the official hydration partner for the upcoming fifth edition of the marathon, set to take place in Kasese District on August 22, 2026.
The event is actively working towards achieving World Athletics Label Road Race status, a goal supported by its adherence to global race standards, certified routes, and professional timing. The marathon has garnered international recognition for its operational excellence and growing global participation.
Through this partnership, CCBU will supply Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water to participants across all race categories: 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km. This hydration support is crucial for runners navigating the scenic routes that traverse the Equator and the picturesque Rwenzori region.
Organizers have planned several upgrades for this year’s event to enhance the experience for athletes and spectators alike. These improvements include enhanced race infrastructure, a new finish arena with expanded facilities, and increased government backing, all aimed at elevating the marathon’s profile.
Emmy Hashakimana, CCBU Managing Director, expressed pride in the continued partnership, highlighting the marathon’s role in community engagement, economic development, and promoting the Rwenzori region’s natural beauty. “We are proud to continue our partnership and provide hydration through Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water as thousands of runners take part in this inspiring event,” Hashakimana stated.
CCBU’s contribution of Shs215 million will facilitate hydration services and contribute to the overall goal of delivering a safe, enjoyable, and world-class racing experience. The organizers aim to secure Gold Label status and further establish the marathon as a significant sports tourism attraction for Uganda, benefiting Kasese and the broader Rwenzori area.
