State Minister for Finance in Charge of Privatization and Investment, Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, has launched a comprehensive tour of Uganda’s industrial parks. This initiative, undertaken in partnership with the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), aims to foster direct dialogue with investors, understand the ground realities they face, and devise practical interventions to bolster the nation’s investment landscape.

The tour commenced on August 14, 2026, at the Picfare Nytil Industrial Park in Jinja. It serves as a crucial platform for government officials, local leaders, and industry stakeholders to convene, allowing investors to articulate their challenges directly to relevant government agencies.

Minister Mukalazi highlighted that the tour’s primary objective is to gather firsthand information on issues such as infrastructure deficits, utility access, financing limitations, land acquisition complexities, and regulatory obstacles. “We want to listen directly to investors and understand the realities they face on the ground,” she stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to finding tangible solutions.

Strengthening industrial parks is deemed vital for Uganda’s industrialization strategy, focusing on job creation, export enhancement, and fostering value addition within local production. During a visit to Southern Range Nyanza Limited (NYTIL), the Minister acknowledged concerns regarding land disputes that are hindering the company’s expansion plans, including a significant proposed investment in a new spinning unit.

NYTIL management expressed worries about land-related issues, including alleged encroachment, which have created uncertainty and delayed crucial investments. Minister Mukalazi assured that these concerns would be thoroughly investigated and addressed within two weeks, a commitment welcomed by the company as essential for unlocking its growth potential.

UIA Director General Robert Mukiza reaffirmed the authority’s dedication to collaborating with investors to improve park services and attract both domestic and foreign investment. This initiative is set to continue with visits to other industrial parks across Uganda, underscoring the government’s drive to cultivate a more investor-friendly environment.
