Mechanic Robbed of Shs12.2 Million After Lured to Remote Luuka Village

A mechanic from Wakiso District has lost Shs12.2 million and a mobile phone in a targeted robbery that occurred in Mawundo Mufuuwa Village, Bulanga Town Council, Luuka District.
Moses Lule, 31, was reportedly lured from Kampala to the remote area by an acquaintance identified as David Mutagubya, who promised to help him find a second-hand vehicle in Iganga.
According to police reports, the duo traveled by motorcycle to Bulanga Town, where Mutagubya suggested they meet other individuals who knew about the vehicle’s location. They proceeded to a secluded spot in Mawundo Mufuuwa Village.
Upon arrival, Lule was allegedly ambushed by approximately five men armed with sticks and clubs. The assailants demanded cash and Lule’s ATM card, ultimately making off with the Shs12.2 million and a Spark 20 mobile phone.
Lule’s alarm and resistance, as he clung to the motorcycle, attracted the attention of nearby residents who intervened. The assailants fled the scene, but Mutagubya was apprehended by the public and handed over to the police.
Investigators recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. Mutagubya is in police custody and receiving treatment for a hand injury while the investigation into his potential links to other robberies in the area continues.
Police are actively seeking the remaining suspects and appealing to the public for any information that could aid in their recovery of the stolen money and property. Members of the community are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
