Emmanuel Okwi: A Ugandan Football Icon's Brilliant Career and Unanswered Questions

Emmanuel Okwi has officially hung up his boots, concluding a career that places him among Uganda’s elite footballers of the modern era. His journey is marked by significant accomplishments, including becoming the Cranes’ leading modern-era international scorer with 28 goals, captaining the national team, and participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Okwi first burst onto the scene with SC Villa, quickly showcasing blistering pace, exceptional ball control, and a keen eye for goal. His individual brilliance often decided matches, earning him adoration from Villa Park faithful. This talent quickly propelled him to regional stardom.
