Russia Issues Stark Warning to UK Over Supplying Drones to Ukraine

Russia has accused the United Kingdom of escalating the Ukraine conflict and acting as an "accomplice" following the confirmation that British-made drones were used in recent strikes on Russian territory. The Russian Embassy in the UK has strongly condemned Britain’s role in the ongoing conflict, stating that the use of British-made drones in attacks within Russia amounts to “deliberately opting for an escalation.” The embassy further declared that the UK is acting as a “co-perpetrator of the bloody crimes and terrorist attacks,” warning that London’s actions “will inevitably carry consequences” and that the “higher the price it will pay” the deeper its involvement becomes.

A spokesperson for the UK’s Ministry of Defence responded by asserting that Britain stands “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine, emphasizing its resolve to oppose Russian aggression. The spokesperson confirmed the UK’s commitment to providing Ukraine with the necessary equipment to defend itself against what they termed “Putin’s illegal invasion.”

The drones in question, manufactured by two separate British companies, have reportedly been employed in successful strikes against military and industrial targets inside Russia, including refineries and logistics centers belonging to the online retailer Wildberries. Ukraine has indicated that several of Wildberries’ major logistics centers have been “disabled” by these attacks, which a military source told the BBC have caused significant economic damage.

This diplomatic exchange occurs amidst a surge in drone attacks by both sides. Recent Ukrainian strikes have targeted Russian territory, while Russia has also conducted retaliatory attacks on Ukraine. The UK has previously pledged substantial drone support to Ukraine, announcing in April a significant package that includes long-range strike capabilities.
