The Kololo Ceremonial Grounds will soon host the second edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Inter-Forces Drill Competition, bringing together over 1,400 UPDF personnel. This year’s event features more than 40 teams from various military branches, a significant increase from the 16 teams that participated in the inaugural competition in May 2025.
Under the theme “Precision, Discipline, and Cohesion: Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation,” the four-day competition is designed to foster teamwork and discipline among UPDF members. Participants, ranging from junior to senior ranks, will showcase traditional military drills involving various sticks and formations.
Adding a new dimension this year, the competition will incorporate creative elements such as theme-based drills, synchronized displays, music, storytelling, and dance. The top five teams will present freestyle drill routines that fuse military precision with Ugandan cultural heritage, highlighting innovation and preserving military traditions.
Col. Henry Obbo, Deputy Defence Public Information Officer, stated that the expanded competition aims to provide more personnel with opportunities to demonstrate their skills, boost operational readiness, and strengthen inter-service cooperation. The event will conclude with a grand finale officiated by the CDF and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Awards will be presented for categories including Best Drill Team, Best Drill Commander, and special recognitions for innovation and cultural integration. The public and press are encouraged to attend to witness the display of military prowess and celebrate national pride.
