President Museveni and First Lady Host International Evangelist Dr. LaDonna Osborn

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady, Maama Janet Museveni, welcomed international evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna C. Osborn at State House Entebbe. Their meeting was an occasion to reflect on Uganda’s significant transformation, the importance of faith in leadership, and the deep spiritual ties that have long connected the Osborn family to the nation.

Dr. Osborn, who is in Uganda at the invitation of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, is preparing for her consecration as an Episcopal Bishop on August 23, 2026. This event will also coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Covenant Nations Church.

Describing herself as a “friend of Uganda,” Dr. Osborn expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to a country where her family has a history of Christian ministry. She recounted her first visit in 1985 with her late mother, recalling the challenging circumstances of post-conflict Uganda, marked by insecurity and infrastructure deficits. She noted the stark contrast with the peace, development, and freedoms Uganda enjoys today.

Dr. Osborn acknowledged the inherent difficulties of leadership, stating that those engaged in significant work often face opposition. She drew parallels with the biblical story of Nehemiah, urging Pastor Patience to remain steadfast in her mission despite challenges, echoing Nehemiah’s resolve: “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.”

First Lady Janet Museveni fondly remembered the visit of Dr. Osborn’s late mother, describing it as a profound spiritual experience. She recalled how Dr. Osborn’s mother prayed with their family and presented each of their children with their first Bible, along with a book that inspired her own faith journey. The First Lady emphasized the cherished memories and the special bond the family shares with the Osborns.

The meeting celebrated the enduring relationship between the Osborn family and Uganda, highlighting the nation’s progress and the continuous role of faith and service in its development.
