Tragedy struck in Ggaba, Kampala, early Thursday morning as a Kenyan national, 43-year-old Dorothy Namayo, allegedly attacked her five children, resulting in the deaths of two.

The incident, which occurred around 4:00 a.m. in Kalungu Zone, Bunga, also saw the mother sustain self-inflicted injuries and the subsequent burning of a Toyota Hiace van at the residence. Police are treating the event as a domestic dispute.

The deceased have been identified as 14-year-old Khadija Daizy and 7-year-old Hawa Dalena. Three other siblings, aged 13, 8, and 5, survived the brutal attack and are receiving medical attention. The mother is currently hospitalized under police guard.

An eyewitness, reportedly the housemaid, was alerted by the children’s cries and discovered the horrific scene upon entering the house. Firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze that consumed the van, with a jerrycan suspected to have held petrol found at the scene.

Investigators from the homicide department and forensic teams have processed the crime scene. The bodies of the deceased children have been taken for postmortem examination, and statements from witnesses have been recorded. The suspect remains under police surveillance as investigations continue to determine the exact motive behind the attack, which has been registered as murder, attempted murder, and arson at Kabalagala Police Station.
