Kisoro RDC Cracks Down on PDM Fund Corruption

The Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Kisoro District is actively pursuing corrupt officials implicated in the mismanagement of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds. Deputy RDC Dan Ndikumwami announced that police operations are underway to apprehend individuals involved in bribery and other corrupt practices that are hindering the PDM program’s success.

Ndikumwami stated that several officials have already been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. He emphasized that the crackdown is indiscriminate and will target anyone, regardless of their position, who interferes with the proper distribution and management of PDM funds. The RDC stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in ensuring the program achieves its goal of transforming subsistence households into the money economy.

He urged the public to play a crucial role by reporting any suspected cases of corruption. “We are cracking down on corruption in PDM distribution. Operations are ongoing,” Ndikumwami declared, adding that the fight against corruption must start at the grassroots for government programs to yield their intended development outcomes.

Furthermore, beneficiaries have been warned against misusing funds or obtaining them through illicit means. Ndikumwami advised recipients to use the PDM funds for their designated income-generating purposes and to return any money acquired improperly, noting that non-compliance could lead to legal consequences. He reiterated that PDM funds are intended to uplift communities and improve household incomes, and all stakeholders must actively protect the program from corruption, misuse, and abuse.

The Deputy RDC called for collaborative efforts between local leaders, program implementers, and beneficiaries to safeguard the PDM funds and guarantee their equitable distribution.
