Lwengo Man Arrested for Suspected Human Cannibalism

Authorities in Lwengo District have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of human cannibalism and murder. The suspect, a resident of Kigeye B Village, Malongo Sub-county, had reportedly been evading capture since last week when locals discovered disturbing remains at his home.
The shocking find occurred when concerned residents stormed the suspect’s house. Inside, they uncovered a sack filled with what are believed to be the remains of an unidentified woman. A further search revealed a freshly severed hand, a weave, and several bones, all suspected to be human.
South Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr. Twaha Kasirye, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations into the cannibalism allegations are ongoing. The discovery has sent ripples of fear through the Kigeye parish, with local leaders urging calm and cooperation with the police.
This incident brings to mind a past case in 2014 where 13 individuals were arrested in Rakai District in connection with the murder and alleged cannibalism of a woman and her infant. The suspects in that case faced charges of murder and attempted murder following a brutal attack in 2014.
