NRM Adjumani West Campaign Halted by Technical Glitch

A planned joint campaign rally for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Adjumani West Constituency was abruptly halted on Friday due to a critical technical failure. The event, scheduled to commence at midday at Paridi Stadium, was intended to allow seven NRM candidates to address their supporters ahead of the party’s primary elections.

According to Dominic Vuciri, the Deputy Registrar for NRM in Adjumani District, the postponement was necessitated by a dead battery powering the public address system. “The battery went off and we had no option but cancel today’s NRM joint campaign,” Vuciri stated. He assured that the campaign would be rescheduled, with a new date and location planned for the following day at the Pachara Sub-county headquarters.

The abrupt cancellation left some attendees disappointed and questioning the party’s logistical preparedness. Voters who had gathered at the stadium expressed their frustration, with some suggesting that equipment should have been tested thoroughly before the event. “It is disappointing that such an important programme can be cancelled because of a public address system,” commented Joseph Tamale, a voter from Minia West Village.

Another resident, George Edema from Forua Village, echoed these sentiments, stating, “If the NRM cannot organise a public address system for a campaign, then voters are right to question how prepared they are for the bigger task ahead.” The NRM’s primary election to select its flag bearer is slated for September 3, 2026, with the by-election following on September 17. The vacant seat was created by the passing of former MP Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali.
