PLU Applauds UPDF Retirements, Credits Museveni and Muhoozi for Dignified Transitions

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has publicly congratulated the latest cohort of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) generals and officers who have retired from active service. The organization specifically lauded President Yoweri Museveni and General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for their roles in enhancing the retirement process for military personnel.

PLU General Secretary, Twalla Fadil, praised the retired officers for their years of dedicated service, sacrifices, and significant contributions to Uganda’s national security. Fadil highlighted that under the current leadership, the UPDF has been transformed into an institution where officers can serve with pride, pursue their work with purpose, and ultimately retire with dignity.

“We especially thank His Excellency the President and Gen Kainerugaba for transforming the military into an institution that is not only admirable but a place where one can serve with pride, work with purpose, and retire with dignity,” Fadil stated. He contrasted this with past experiences where retirement could be a daunting prospect, sometimes leading to prolonged waits or even desertion.

Fadil emphasized that under the present leadership, military retirement is no longer viewed as a “death sentence.” Instead, it has evolved into an honourable transition following a career dedicated to national service. The PLU extended an invitation to these retired officers to join their ranks, encouraging them to leverage their extensive experience, knowledge, and ideas for the benefit of national development.

“The Patriotic League of Uganda is a home that warmly welcomes your wealth of experience, wisdom, and ideas. We invite you to continue contributing to the patriotic cause and nation building in this new chapter of your lives,” Fadil added. He concluded by wishing the retirees a peaceful, productive, and fulfilling transition after their long military careers.
