Bishop Rubaramira Ordains 13 Priests, 10 Deacons in Kabale

The Apostolic Administrator of Kabale Diocese, Bishop Callist Rubaramira, presided over a significant ordination ceremony at Rushoroza Cathedral, marking the transition of thirteen men to priesthood and ten to the diaconate.

During the service, Bishop Rubaramira implored the newly ordained to “restrain your bodies against committing sin and remain clear representatives of Jesus Christ.” He emphasized the importance of wisdom rooted in the Roman Catholic faith, urging them to “never lose hope but preach the word of God and always remember to fulfil your calling to priesthood.”

The bishop reminded the new priests and deacons that their role is one of service, not to be served, and encouraged them to remain focused on Jesus Christ for spiritual strength. The ceremony also coincided with the 60th anniversary celebrations of Kabale Diocese.

As the diocese celebrates its diamond jubilee, Bishop Rubaramira called for prayers for peace and development, and for the bishop-elect, Msgr Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, whose consecration is set for October 3. He urged the faithful to embrace humility and avoid temptations, keeping the “lamp of Christ lighting in your homes and work places.”

The event was attended by government officials, including the Minister of Health, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, who read a speech on behalf of President Yoweri Museveni. The President congratulated the ordained, highlighting that priesthood is a service to God requiring wisdom, skill, knowledge, and humility. He also touched upon the government’s efforts to combat poverty and foster socio-economic transformation through various initiatives.

This ordination marks a new chapter for Kabale Diocese as it celebrates its rich history and looks toward the future with its newly appointed spiritual leaders. The newly ordained are expected to significantly contribute to the diocese’s pastoral mission and community development efforts.
