Buganda Kingdom Urges Youth to Embrace Marriage for Stronger Families

Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the Second Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda and Minister of Finance, has issued a compelling call to the youth, urging them to overcome any hesitations surrounding marriage. He stressed the importance of establishing responsible households that not only uphold family values but also contribute to the broader community’s strength.

Nsibirwa delivered these remarks at a recent wedding held at Lubaga Cathedral, where Dr. Roberta Kasozi, daughter of CBS Radio’s Head of Operations, Robert Kasozi, wedded fellow lawyer Hilary Mucunguzi Murungi. He highlighted that marriage brings significant joy to both families and the Church, reinforcing familial connections and fulfilling the biblical principle against living alone.

“People in Buganda celebrate when their children get married. Relatives rejoice because they receive reassurance that their family will continue to grow and remain united,” Nsibirwa stated. He added that the Church also celebrates as scripture encourages finding a partner to share life’s journey.

The Buganda Kingdom official reminded the newly married couple of the shared responsibilities that come with matrimony. He specifically advised the groom to be a provider and protector for his family while nurturing his wife, and encouraged the bride to offer support through life’s inevitable challenges.

Nsibirwa also took the opportunity to commend Roberta’s father, Robert Kasozi, for his extensive and dedicated service to Buganda Kingdom, describing him as a model of humility, loyalty, and hard work. He encouraged Roberta to embody these qualities in her own marriage, believing they would be instrumental to her success.

The wedding mass was officiated by Bishop Serverus Jjumba of Masaka Diocese, who advised the couple to prioritize open communication, mutual trust, and shared experiences, both joyous and challenging. He further urged them to place their faith at the core of their union, allowing it to guide their shared aspirations.

The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries from Buganda Kingdom and other sectors, followed by celebrations at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
