Newly Ordained Clergy Urged to Be 'Unceasing Flames' by Bishop Mukasa

The Kasana-Luweero Diocese has welcomed seven new priests and five deacons following a significant ordination ceremony. Bishop Lawrence Mukasa presided over the Holy Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Queen of Peace Cathedral in Kasana, Luweero, emphasizing the crucial role of these newly ordained individuals.
Bishop Mukasa challenged the clergy to illuminate the lives of the faithful and the broader community through their actions and commitment. He urged them to be “candles that never stop burning,” signifying a continuous and devoted service to God, the Church, and humanity.
The seven deacons elevated to the priesthood are Cyprian Kaliisa, Julius Luttamaguzi, Paul Lubega Wasswa, David Kato Nkuggwa, Expedito Kisitu, Mathew Mulamira, and Hilary Tubuseeke. Additionally, five seminarians were ordained as deacons: Pontian Ssegawa, Thomas Kibajjiro, Robert Mujjuzi, John Mary Osinde, and Peter Matovu.
Bishop Mukasa also cautioned the newly ordained deacons against losing their focus as they embark on their ministries. He stressed the importance of remaining steadfast in their calling and dedicated to serving God and His people with unwavering faithfulness.
Representing the newly ordained priests, Father David Kato Nkuggwa expressed profound gratitude to their parents, teachers, and formators for their unwavering support and guidance throughout their spiritual formation. He pledged that they would adhere to the virtuous path shown to them.
The ceremony was attended by hundreds of Christians, family members, friends, religious leaders, and local dignitaries, all gathered to witness the candidates assume their new responsibilities within the Catholic Church. Katikamu North Member of Parliament, Denis Sekabira, also used the occasion to advise parents to actively guide and protect their children during school holidays, particularly emphasizing the importance of instilling good morals and cultural values.
