Jinja Headmistress Under Probe for Allegedly Procuring Students for Sexual Exploitation

Anna Nanziri, the headmistress of St. Gonzaga Senior Secondary School, is currently under scrutiny by the police following serious allegations from several students. The accusations suggest Nanziri may have been involved in procuring female students for sexual exploitation by a Senior Six student.

Complaints filed with Jinja district authorities and the Kiira Regional police indicate a disturbing pattern. A 20-year-old male student allegedly selected two female students every Friday. Nanziri is accused of then transporting these girls in her personal vehicle to her residence in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe district, where they allegedly remained for the weekend before returning to school on Monday.

The exact nature of the relationship between Nanziri and the senior student remains under investigation. However, preliminary inquiries have revealed accounts from students and teachers describing an unusually close dynamic between the two.

Further allegations suggest Nanziri left her house keys with the male student while she traveled to Kampala, leaving him unsupervised at her home with the younger female students. At least eight girls have reportedly come forward with complaints detailing experiences that escalated from weekend stays at Nanziri’s home to alleged sexual exploitation. Some victims claim the senior student coerced them into sexual acts by citing a fabricated medical condition.

Reports also indicate that students who attempted to raise concerns faced threats of suspension or expulsion, creating an environment of fear. The investigation gained momentum after one victim confided in her mother, who then contacted authorities upon discovering similar allegations from another parent.

The victims have expressed deep trauma and requested psychological support, appealing for a sensitive investigation to ensure their safety and deliver justice. Hussein Malunda, the deputy chief administrative officer of Jinja district, confirmed that the district probation team has interviewed the complainants, and their findings have been shared with the police for further action.

Kiira Regional Police spokesperson James Mubi has declined to comment on the ongoing investigation, citing its early stages. However, sources close to the inquiry have confirmed that statements have been collected from victims, Nanziri, and other relevant individuals.
